Spinedance = Solo time!

Howdy,Happy New Year!

Well, the first rehearsal of 2013 and the goodly men and women at Fusion Orchestra 2 are hard at it already.

Watch this space for a new promo video to go with the 5 minute taster track we recorded at the end of last year.

Also, two new recordings are currently being mixed alongside our writing of new material. ‘Seize the Day’ (working title) plus ‘That Other Thing’ (also a working title.)

If that’s not enough the boys decided to pull out ‘Spinedance’ last night. This was, according to Col, the vehicle for The Drummer’s solo. I had a great time working with Shemeck (bass) on how to get into the solo section but, on returning home, realised I really should put some more work into the solo itself.

Soloing is, I think, the only way to find out what one can do on an instrument. One finds the barriers, the places for growth and, hopefully, the progress! But it’s important to remember that it is an ongoing journey. No solo is perfect, as with any performance. So they are, at best, snapshots.

Enough said. Here is my latest attempt to decide on a form that will give me enough room for expression ‘on the night’ with enough structure to keep me calm. Plus hopefully some excitement for the viewer. Enjoy!

‘Til next time,

Seex
